The “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” project was launched on August 27, 2010, and soil cutting work has officially begun. According to this, State owned “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC was established on December 23, 2010 under the respective decisions of the State Great Khural and the Government for the purpose of utilizing the Tavantolgoi deposit for the benefit of the citizens of Mongolia.
"Erdenes-Tavantolgoi" JSC received a certificate No. 9010001097 on December 23, 2010 in the field of mineral exploration and mining and was officially registered with the State Registration Authority under registration number 5435528. The main objective of “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC is to putting strategically important coal deposit into economic circulation, conducting mining operations and implementing infrastructure projects according to Law on Minerals.
“Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” project will be implemented in the main directions of coal mining, processing product, building infrastructure and plants, implementing water supply project, conducting additional exploration and research at the deposit, delivering its products to global markets and trading in domestic and international stock markets.
“Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC has a total of 822 employees, 100 percent of whom are Mongolians. 62 percent of the employees possess higher education, 27 percent of them are residents of Umnugovi province and 12 percent are residents of Tsogttsetsii soum.
