EMPLOYEES OF THE “ERDENES-TAVABNTOLGOI” JSC PARTICIPATE IN GOBI CHALLENGE 2020 PROJECT
The “Gobi challenge” multi-days camel trip project, sponsored by “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC, started on the 26th of this month. The project is being implemented by Erkhet Mongol Media Group, TV8 channel and the Camel Weaver Foundation and will be presented to the public in the form of a reality show.
On the behalf of the company, B.Idermaa, a self-propelled registration specialist of the Coal Shipping and Logistics Department, and B.Battumur, a service mechanic of the Technical Operation and Maintenance Mechanics Department, are participating in the trip. Participants will travel 720 km from Noyon soum of Umnugovi aimag to Bayanzag soum by camel in 24 days.
The project aims to serve as a model for ecotourism, as well as to support traditional nomadic culture, disseminate Mongolian Gobi fairs and traditions, support local livelihoods, and attract investment in winter tourism. The 10 participants of the Gobi Challenge reality show will travel by camel in the South Gobi for a month. The trip will be an eight-episode series. It will also produce a documentary on camel culture, camel weight and camel travel, which will be translated and distributed in more than 30 countries through the Chinggis International News Agency. According to the organizers, reality show takes place internally this time but they emphasize that in the coming years, tourists and enthusiasts from foreign countries will join the project.
