Mongolia exported around 2.5 million tons of coal in January, increased by 3% compared to the same period in 2020, according to Mongolian Customs General Administration. Coal alone accounts for 34.5 percent of total exports. Port exports have been relatively stable since the beginning of 2021. In particular, an average of 460 trucks a day exported coal through Gashuunsukhait port and more than 380 trucks exported coal through Shiveekhuren port in last week alone. Kh. Zoljargal, Executive Director of the Mongolian Coal Association, said that Mongolia would be able to export about 36 million tons of coal to the Chinese market this year, unless there are an unexpected risk factor occurs. In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister announced that changing a shift of mining workers will be organized before the Lunar New Year.
