Within the framework of its social responsibility, “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC has decided to implement the “Child-friendly ETT” program from 2021 at the initiative of all employees of the company. “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC has been successfully implementing the “Scholarship Program” since 2013 and the “Green Gobi” program since 2018 within the framework of its social responsibility.
For example, in 2013, umnugovi aimag students were traditionally awarded scholarships, and in 2019, for the first time, a scholarship program was announced nationwide.
In particular, starting from 2019, the scholarship program was announced nationwide for the first time as before only students from Umnugovi aimag whom were eligible for scholarship program. To date, a total of 346 students have been enrolled in the “Student Scholarship Program” and 1,000,000 (one million) tugrugs in scholarships have been awarded to each student to support the education of successful students. This year, 60 students from Umnugovi aimag and 30 students from other aimag will receive scholarships.
In 2012, “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC established a pilot rehabilitation site to green the Gobi region, and the cultivation of 13 species of woody plants in the Gobi continues successfully.
Then, in 2018, we started to implement the “Green Gobi” program in cooperation with the teachers of the School of Agroecology of the University of Agriculture, and within the framework of the program, certain activities will be planned and implemented every year.
Since its inception, the company has planted 100,972 trees around the mine with the participation of subcontractors and aims to green a total of 85,000 hectares. Last year, we planted 740 trees in the “Treasure Island” park in Tsogttsetsii soum.
