Job Description:

English Interpreter is responsible to translating written and oral date from Mongolian to English and from English to Mongolian language, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone. 

 

Main Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Reads through or listens to material in one language, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning 
  • Translates offline, online, video, and media source 
  • Consults with subject matter experts and other project team members in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately 
  • Uses highly specialised translation software to encourage efficiency and consistency 
  • Adheres to mining industry quality standards to ensure that all completed work follows legal and ethical obligations 
  • Translates a variety of documents including legal, research, technical, scientific, educational, and commercial materials 
  • May specialise in a particular industry in which he or she has relevant experience or knowledge, such as mining, construction, transportation & logistics sector. 

 

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
  • A good understanding and in-depth knowledge of mining, transportation sector  
  • Fluency in at least two languages in addition to your native language

 

Skills/Competencies:

  • Fluency English languages 
  • Excellent writing skills and command of grammar in English and Mongolian
  • Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
  • Proficiency in the use of a range of computer packages - knowledge of translation-oriented applications and software 
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Good time management and organizational skills  

 

Languages: Excellent command of English both verbally and in writing is required

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above equivalent in Translation, Linguistics or Science in Translation and Interpretation.
  • Additional certification of Interpreter is a plus 

 

Salary: The actual salary will be based on company standards and calculations, considering the qualifications and experience of the selected person.

Work Schedule: Full time; 40 hours per week
